Victor M. Diaz, Jr. received his Bachelor’s Degree (summa cum laude) from Duke University in 1982, where he graduated first in his class. In 1985, Mr. Diaz graduated with honors from the Yale Law School, where he served as Editor-In-Chief of the Yale Law & Policy Review. Mr. Diaz was admitted to the Florida Bar in 1985. His professional memberships include: Dade County and American Bar Associations; The Florida Bar; American Association for Justice (Chair, Section on Aviation Litigation, 2007); Dade County Trial Lawyers Association (Board of Directors, 1997-1999); Hispanic National Bar Association; Cuban American Bar Association (President 2003; Board of Directors, 1998-2004).

For over 35 years, Mr. Diaz has been ranked as one of South Florida’s preeminent trial lawyers, concentrating his practice in complex civil litigation including complex commercial cases, personal injury and wrongful death cases, class actions, mass torts and product liability cases. Mr. Diaz has been recognized by numerous national and regional publications as one of the state’s premier elite civil trial lawyers, Best Lawyers in America (2006-202e); South Florida Legal Guide (2005-2023); Florida Trend Magazine’s Florida Legal Elite (2005-2021); Chambers And Partners Best Lawyers (2005-2023);  Lawdragon’s 500 Leading Plaintiff’s Lawyers in America, and has been named one of America’s Top 100 Bet-the-Company Litigators. Most recently, Mr. Diaz has been awarded the prestigious title of “Lawyer of the Year – Litigation” no less than four times in the past eight years: 2013 – South Florida Legal Guide; 2014 – Best Lawyers in America; 2019 – Best Lawyers in America; 2021 – Best Lawyers in America.

Mr. Diaz has been a featured lecturer on various civil litigation topics for numerous bar groups including The Florida Bar, the Dade County Bar Association, and the American Association for Justice and has lectured at several international comparative law conferences on the subjects of mass tort litigation, personal injury and complex civil litigation.

Mr. Diaz’s civic activities have included serving as President of Greater Miami Legal Services, Inc. (1996-1997); Chairman of the Miami-Dade College Foundation (2000-2003); Vice Chairman of the Spanish American League Against Discrimination (1997-2001); Chairman of the City of Miami Beach Planning Board (2003-2007); Chairman of Miami Dade County Charter Review Task Force (2007); Member of the Executive Committee of the Yale Law School Alumni Association; and a Member of the Metro Dade County Cultural Affairs Council.

Mr. Diaz has received numerous personal and professional honors for his professional accomplishments and his civic leadership. In 2000, the Florida Supreme Court awarded Mr. Diaz the “Tobias Simon Award,” the State of Florida’s highest recognition for public and pro bono service. Mr. Diaz’s other awards recognizing his professional and civic accomplishments, include the Points of Light Foundation “National Community Leadership Award” (2000); the City of Miami Beach “Citizen of the Year Award” (2003); the Theodore Gibson Foundation “Lifetime Humanitarian Award” (2002); and the South Florida Hispanic Chamber of Commerce “Lifetime Achievement Award” (2006).

In 2003, Mr. Diaz was elected by his peers as a Life Fellow of the American Bar Foundation.
